MLB Winter Meeting Coverage
Yesterday we went over how the free agency compensation process works, who the free agents were, who the Type "A" and Type ‘B" free agents were, what those designation mean and the Elias Sports Bureau's roll in designating them that way.
I've gotten some decent feedback from you so I'm glad that you all got something out of that. I wasn't sure if I was just going to confuse people more than they already were.
One thing that three different people asked was "who are the Scott Boras Clients?" I'm guessing that if that's was on the minds of some, that it's on the minds of the masses as well.
My presumption is that you guys are asking because you are wondering how he will eff'ing screw up the process!
I did some poking around, and to the best of my knowledge here are the current free agents that are clients of the Scott Boras Corporation.
Hank Blalock (29) Felipe Lopez (30) - Type B, not offered arb Adrian Beltre (31) - Type B, offered arb Joe Crede (32) Garret Anderson (38) - Type B, not offered arb Johnny Damon (36) - Type A, not offered arb Matt Holliday (30) - Type A, offered arb Rick Ankiel (30) Xavier Nady (31) - Type B, not offered arb Rodrigo Lopez (34) Jarrod Washburn (35) Mike Gonzalez (32) - Type A, offered arb Eric Gagne (34) Scott Schoeneweis (36) Ron Villone (40)
I immagine if you are a huge Yankees fan you are interested in whether Johnny Damon will resign with the Yankees. I would think that they will offer him a one year deal with an option. You have to believe that any of the leverage that Boras had to do better than that was taken away by the Curtis Granderson deal yesterday, assuming it goes through.
Besides Damon, Matt Holliday is Boras' only white elephant in the room.
FYI - So you know, here is a list of ALL Scott Boras's baseball clients. I had to put together that list in order to get the free agent list. If you have a correction or omission to the list please let me know.
