flurryThe Doctor is in...

Plenty of moves to discuss in MLB this week, headlined by the huge three way deal:

Phillies get Roy Halladay, and others

Dr. Roto says: Nicely done by the Phillies. Philadelphia has a team policy of only offering three year contracts to pitchers, so there was no way they were going to give Cliff Lee a CC Sabathia-like monster deal. Halladay is every bit as good as Lee and maybe better.

Blue Jays get Kyle Drabek, Brett Wallace, and others

Dr. Roto says: Drabek could get into the rotation by 2011. Wallace has a chance to crack the lineup in 2010 replacing Lyle Overpay. They needed to move Halladay and knew they didn't want him going to another AL EAST club. Respectable deal for the Jays.

Mariners get Cliff Lee

Dr. Roto says: Great pickup for the Mariners. Lee and King Felix are a terrific 1-2 punch. Seattle has made a real splash this off-season.

A's get Michael Taylor:

Dr. Roto says: Billy Beane pulls off another heist. Wallace is solid, but with the A's adding Jake Fox they had no place for Wallace to play. Taylor might make the A's lineup by the all-star break.

Garrett Atkins and Mike Gonzalez to the Orioles

Dr. Roto says: Didn't the Orioles get the memo? Atkins is DONE. Gonzalez is ok, but he is always injured. Gonzalez may save 15 games so he has some fantasy upside.

Mike Cameron and John Lackey to the Red Sox

Dr. Roto says: Theo Epstein pulls a surprise with Lackey. His addition gives them a superior pitching staff that can compete with anyone in baseball. Don't be shocked to see Buchholz go in a deal for Adrian Gonzalez. As for Cameron, the Sox pick up a gold-glove defender with some power. His days of 30 SB are behind him, but Cameron could easily hit 20 HR and steal 10 bases.

Hideki Matsui to the Angels

Dr. Roto says: The Angels add a solid left handed bat to their lineup. Good signing by the Halos.

John Buck to the Blue Jays

Dr. Roto says: If you need a second catcher, you could do worse than Buck. He should probably only cost you a buck or two, but could hit 12-15 HR in Toronto.
