vasquezI don't care how many players the Yankees gave up or how much cash they gave, how the hell could the Atlanta Braves trade Javier Vazquez for Melky Cabrera?

This has got to be one of the biggest heists in MLB history!

Vazquez went 15-10 with a 2.87 earned run average last season. Over the last 10 seasons, he's thrown at least 200 innings every year except 2004, when he was an All-Star and had 198 with New York. Vazquez finished fourth in 2009 voting for the Cy Young Award and had 238 strikeouts while allowing 44 walks!

How to you trade that for a part time player?

My god, did the Yankees at least include a jar of Vaseline for each Braves season ticket holder?

Technically it wasn't a one for one as it was part of a five player trade. Relief pitcher Boone Logan also joined the Yankees, while reliever Mike Dunn and minor-league pitcher Arodys Vizcaino moved to Atlanta. The Yankees also sent an undisclosed amount of cash to the Braves.

Unless Vasquez raped one of Ted Turner's immediate relatives, or Ted Turner himself, how do you trade Vasquez for Melky Cabrerra? Wholly Crap!

Interestingly, Cabrera's departure opens a spot in the Yankees' outfield, perhaps signaling a return of Johnny Damon who's exit seemed likely earlier this month when New York acquired All-Star center-fielder Curtis Granderson from the Detroit Tigers as part of a three-team trade that switched Cabrera to left field.

The other possibility is that they may now go after Matt Holliday as there isn't anyone who thinks that they will go with Brett Gardner, who did have 26 stolen bases in 108 games last season. - Keith A. Baker

If you haven't voted in our poll on the site yet please do so. We are trying to get a feel for how our readers are looking at the game of MLB so we can write about things they want to hear. The poll question is, "Do you think that MLB should have a salary cap or something similar?" - Please vote.
