David Wright still feeling affect of "Beanball" E-mail

wright3Exactly how fast was the ball traveling Matt Cain threw that hit David Wright in the head last August 15th? The published news reports say it was a 94 mph fastball, but with the words Wright has been uttering, it had to be faster than that.......

Wright who was in camp a day before Mets pitchers and catchers were required to report to spring training had the following to say.

In reply to a question about how the Mets' expectations might be different arriving in spring training following a 70-92 season, as opposed to the previous two camps, when the team was trying to shake off September collapses, Wight said,

"We're expecting to go out there and win the National League East and go deep in the playoffs and win the World Series, that's the expectation I've gotten from the guys who are here early, and I [expect] this team is to get back to where we are winning the National League East."

"We have a championship-caliber team and a team that is going to be right up there at the end and compete for the National League East."

I don't know what roster David Wright is looking at but the Mets have other franchises laughing at them.

Other than David Wright's own position, 3B, at what position on the field do the Mets have a clear cut definitive better player than the Phillies?

Closer? Maybe I guess. Not if Lidge pitches like he did in '08. SS? Even at best. LF? Perhaps, but it's pretty much a wash if you look at the stats. You can't even definitively say that Santana is better than Halladay. That's like which way is sex better, doggie or missionary. From where I sit, I take it any way I can!

I sure do hope that David Wright wears that new ultra padded helmet this year. That may turn out to be the most interesting topic we talk about on this team all year.

Anyone else thing that he looks like "The Great Gazoo" in that thing? - Peter Costa (a.k.a. Roto Loser)

Pete is a serious Rotisserie participant playing the same league with the same guys for 18 years. Not only has Peter never finished in the money; he's now finished last 14 times and no higher than 10th (in a league with 14 guys). Join us in following Peter's trials, tribulations and frustrations, as he attempts to navigate his way out of the basement again in 2010.

He is probably looking at essentially the same line-up that was picked by SI to win the World Series last year.

Forget the fact that they were all hurt. How the hell could SI pick the Mets to win last year after "the same line-up" choked the two previous years?
