hanleyramirezAs you prepare for your 2010 fantasy baseball draft, Dr. Roto is here to help. This is part of a multi-part series where Dr. Roto will be rating fantasy players by position. As opposed to most sites that rank players in order, he will be ranking them in tiers. Today we will be covering short stops.

Group A (Guys I love):

Hanley Ramirez - just watched him last week in Jupiter, so good he is on another planet

Derek Jeter - still producing and plays in a great hitting park

Jimmy Rollins - focus on 2009 2nd half numbers

Troy Tulowitzki - power/speed combo plus a great leader

Jose Reyes - I will put him here, but I am queasy about it

Group B (Guys that are solid):

Yunel Escobar - solid as a rock

Jason Bartlett - finally met expectations in 2009—can he keep it up?

Alexi Ramirez - another power speed guy

Asdrubal Cabrera - ready to take the next step up the SS food chain

Stephen Drew - can he finally meet the high expectations?

Rafael Furcal - needs to remain healthy

Group C (Guys that are decent but have flaws):

Elvis Andrus - love the guy’s speed, but want to see more pop

Everth Cabrera - needs to put stamp on position, big Dr. Roto sleeper

Alcides Escobar - it’s his time in Brew-town—watch him shine

Erick Aybar - he can steal more bases if give the green light

Marco Scutaro - great buy for $1 at the end of your draft

Orlando Cabrera - the Marco Scutaro of the NL

Ryan Theriot - am supposed to like him more than I do

Group D (Guys who are risky)

JJ Hardy - might surprise - has big power

Ian Desmond - decent hitter, but bad defense may cost him job eventually

Edgar Renteria - was good 5 years ago

Cliff Pennington - can’t steal 1st base

Miguel Tejada - no way lightning strikes in a bottle twice

Jack Wilson - reserve round pick

If you haven't voted in our poll on the site yet please do so. We are trying to get a feel for how our readers are looking at the game of MLB so we can write about things they want to hear. The poll question is, "Do you think that MLB should have a salary cap or something similar?"

Have a Fantasy Football or Rotisserie baseball question? Want to know who to pick up, who to activate and who the hot prospects are? Ask Dr. Roto. Let Dr. Roto guide your team to a league championship.
